CAUGHT IN THE CROSSHAIRS A dog-sitting favor for a friend takes a terrifying twist when the police-dog-in-training runs off and leads Alexis Thompson into the middle of a drug drop. Only the quick thinking of a passing stranger gets them both out alive. Veterinarian Nick Kendrick, who's running for mayor, knows the race for survival is just beginning. As moving targets, he and Alexis must work together to learn the identity of the drug ring's murderous mastermind. But having killers on their tail isn't the only problem they face. Alexis's past as a disbarred lawyer could jeopardize Nick's political future. Only by putting their dreams and their safety on the line can they eliminate the threat to their town, and find a way forward together... Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I did like the dog, Raven, though yes, she does seem a little untrained, especially in the hands of a novice like Alexis, who doesn't even like dogs. So, let's throw her together with the veterinarian (Nick)for a bit more of a plot twist.
Did Alexis do the right thing by breaking attorney-client privilege to report a murderer? The State of Washington says no. I'm not sure if the murderer expected attorney-client privilege in that scenario though--we only hear about it second-hand in this book so there's no way to know. It does seem that the censure has affected Alexis to the point that she feels she's ruined her father's political aspirations as well as her own career. I'm glad to see that it didn't really matter to the townspeople who knew her nor did it seem to matter to Nick.
I'm sure the police were upset at losing a drug detection dog--though it seems Nick may have applied for some funds for a K9 late in the book. I'm glad Raven got to become a therapy dog--and I'm glad Alexis got over her fear of dogs. ( )
