But this year Groundhog is not feeling well. Dr. Owl diagnoses him with the flu and orders two days of bed rest. Then Groundhog has in idea--he can hire a substitute! Maybe Squirrel can be the substitute, or Eagle, or Bear. Genre: Fantasy Critique: This book is an excellent example of fantasy because it personifies animal characters in a fictional story, and presents it in a believable manner Summary: Groundhog wakes up feeling sick, and soon discovers he has a nasty flu. Tomorrow is groundhog's day, and he has to find a replacement before it's too late, so he interviews various animals as potential candidates for filling in, to let the rest of the animals know whether or not there will be 6 more weeks of winter Characterization: I wouldn't exactly say that Groundhog is a rounded character. He is not portrayed or built up into a complex character who the reader can emotionally attach to, but he is not completely flat either, as he does have some dimension to him. Media: The books doesn't say, however it looks like watercolors, colored pencils, inks, and/or paints This fantasy book illustrates the seasons changing based on the holiday Groundhogs Day. All of characters are animals and talk to each other in order to help gorundhog solve his problem. The story is make-believe but is based off of the sequence of events around Groundhog Day. The plot in the story starts off with a designated problem. Groundhog starts to solve the problem by posting the job on a tree near his house. He then has an interview process and picks the most credited animal. Media-watercolor Use-Groundhog Day Celebration, Helping Friends, Seasons Changing Media- Substitute Groundhog is a cute book about when the groundhog gets the flu one day before groundhog’s day. So he has to find a substitute. He interviews many different candidates. She finally finds a candidate, armadillo, after groundhogs day is over armadillo takes groundhog to Texas (where spring starts early). As a student this book allows me to see what it might be like to be the groundhog. It has some ok illustrations and the plot is good, but overall a very average book. As a teacher this book would work with young students. It would be a great book for small group discussions also. The plot is nothing spectacular, but it is easy to follow and keeps you semi-interested. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
