It provides simple but effective descriptions of life for the Warli civilization- from harvet time to wedding festivities- and includes arresting tribal art prints on each page. This would be a great addition to a n elementary class or personal library! ( )Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This is an early reviewer copy from librarything.I really enjoyed the book. The cover says it is based on the actual drawings made by these ancient people. There is a reference in the script to things that weren't evident in the pictures that made me curious how much interpretation was made in the production of the book. This book would make a worthwhile addition to the ancient pictorial history Section of a children's Library. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. We really love historical picture books and I am fairly picky about them. We use them rather than a history text in our elementary home school. This was an interesting approach to learning about a culture. The illustrations added significantly to the enjoyment of the book. We will definitely be incorporating this into our curriculum and library. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. The illustrations in this book are so wonderful. I can see the two-toned high contrast images inspiring elementary school art lesson plans. It will take many readings to notice all the folky animals and primitive people mingling and working on the pages. I like the idea of following the picture book with supplementary maps, timelines, and some text-heavy historical information, but I'll use this book more for its art. This book tells the story of the Warli people through picture drawings that look similar to the geometric Warli drawings that have been found. It is a nice setting for the story because it makes you feel that you are in the tribe. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
A poetic depiction of ancient India The Warli people, who live in ancient India, work hard throughout the year. They plant seeds in the spring so that the summer monsoons will help the plants grow, and they harvest their crops in the fall and store the food for the long winter ahead. But despite the hardships they face, they also find time to celebrate life's joyous moments. This Trade Winds book highlights the day-to-day life in an agricultural society and offers historical information about one of the world's earliest civilizations.
