Summer is running away from her past. But, she can't hide from it. A seemingly simple premise that is somehow made very complex and confusing in this book. ( )

This series is a must read! Keeps you on the edge of your seat! Keeps you excited, makes you laugh, and definitely leaves you wanting more! ( )

This was NOT what I was expecting. NO SMUT WHATSOEVER. And what the fuck was that cliff hanger. This kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! This is only my 2nd series by Ivy Smoak and she did not disappoint! ( )

Summer Brooks was a little girl when her life was flipped upside-down. Now in witness protection and a college freshman Sadie has to start her life anew. Things get tangled up when she collides with her past. Battered, broken, and bruised Sadie thinks she's being stalked, is she just being paranoid? An encounter with a vigilante fills her with comfort and dread; nothing is what it seems.
There were a couple of things I enjoyed one being the cover; it's actually what drew me to the book reminds me of a graphic novel. I also liked that everyone's motives were questionable. I didn't know who was there to help Sadie or harm her; author did a good conveying the character's paranoia. On the other hand, my problem with the story was the protagonist herself. I thought she was going to be more kick-ass instead she was just defeated, it was sad and irritating. Sadie's had a tough life, got herself out of a miserable situation, I think her attitude should've been more I'm strong, I'm going to make it not damsel in constant state of anxiety. I hope second the book works on that though I don't plan to find out. Just wasn't for me. ( )

I do not like romance. I find it fake and tedious. I also do not like sex scenes at all. The description of this book drew me in as it claimed to be a thriller/mystery with just a little romance. Not! Apparently, the author is known for steamy books the likes of which I despise. Despite that, the plot and characterization where excellent and I'm terribly curious to find out who the bad guys are and who the vigilante is and what is going to happen to the main character. It ended on a cliff hanger that made me want to read the next book, even with all the extra crap, but I think I will wait for others to review those books and hope they give spoilers. ( )
