"Who's afraid of the Big Bad Fox? No one, it seems. The fox dreams of being the terror of the barnyard. But no one is intimidated by him, least of all the hens? When he picks a fight with one, he always ends up on the losing end. Even the wolf, the most fearsome beast of the forest, can't teach him how to be a proper predator. It looks like the fox will have to spend the rest of his life eating turnips. But then the wolf comes up with the perfect scheme. If the fox steals some eggs, he could hatch the chicks himself and raise them to be a plump, juicy chicken dinner. Unfortunately, this plan falls apart when three adorable chicks hatch and call the fox Mommy" -- cover flap.… (altro)

I'd seen a preview of this upcoming film (it's an anthology film, Le grand méchant renard et autres contes...), but didn't realize it was based on a comic until I ran into a copy of it in my local comic shop. Cute story, I loved the simple layouts and panels - it made me think about the variety of storytelling styles within comics. I thought there was an interesting underlying story about harassment and consent with regard to the fox and the chickens. The chickens are the only female characters in the story, and must take matters into their own hands since none of the other animals are willing to listen to their complaints about the fox (some of the other animals even enable his behavior). But, without giving too much away, the fox gets his comeuppance in the end so I'm satisfied in that regard. All in all a fun and lighthearted story, and I'm excited for the film! ( )

Deliciós, actualitzat i una mica gamberret. Llegiu-lo o llegiu-lo als vostres nanos. ( )

This book is a fun graphic novel about a big bad fox. The bad refers to how bad the main character is at being a fox. He can not catch chickens so resorts to stealing eggs. His plan is to hatch them and then he will have chickens. The problem is the when they hatch, they imprint on the fox and start calling him mommy. They follow him around, and he ends up protecting them from other predators. The chickens have decided that they can not rely on anyone else to stop the predators so they learn how to fight and protect themselves. The chicken who has her eggs stolen is leading the way to get her chicks back. This is a silly book that will appeal to a wide variety of ages. The illustrations are cute comic type illustrations drawn very simply. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. ( )

Ed. Delcourt, 183 pages - 16,95€
