Paige gets roped into having her best friend Allie's little brother Cannon become her roommate for a couple of months while he's finishing up a residency at the hospital. They haven't seen each other in years. Surprise! He's all grown up (twenty four) into a muscle bound hunk that women fall instantly in love with after they have sex with him. Paige is twenty eight and is of course in the middle of a dry spell. Throw the two of them together in close quarters and of course sex is on the menu, sneaking around so Allie doesn't find out (even though they are adults), & tragedy spins a tale from 2 points of view. OK story but same old trope. ( )

Lighthearted read. Plot seemed a little messy - too much happened without longer explanation, seemed unnecessary without the depth. Allie was a plot device, but had no real depth to her character. Death of the stepfather didn't really add to the story. The relationship between Paige and Cannon developed nicely and had some fluffy moments. Paige visiting Cannon at the hospital for one. The miscommunication seemed stupid and pointless. It seemed out of character for Cannon, who throughout the rest of the book had just communicated his feelings, to not talk to Paige properly. He'd already admitted his feelings, why go through all the bullshit of not addressing the issue and hiding and whatnot. ( )

In this book, the first of the Roommates series, Cannon moves in the his older sister's best friend for a couple months before he heads off to a medical residency program. He'd been in love with Paige for most of his life but she only saw him as her best friend's nerdy little brother. But things change for her when she sees him for the first time since he's grown up. And got hot. Three things stop them from acting on their mutual attraction. First, her best friend/his sister. Second, his desire to pursue his goals without the distraction of a relationship. And third, his troubled romantic past that has him believing he's some sex god that makes women go crazy after he's left them. What follows is a sometimes amusing, sometimes heartwarming tale of how Paige and Cannon face these obstacles.

This wasn't my favorite book. But it wasn't bad. I actually liked it. I liked both characters and felt like I had stakes in what would happen with them. The book was short enough that things moved quickly and I didn't feel like it was dragging on and on. For this type of book, that was key. But it was pretty crude in the language, but not too bad in the sex scenes. They were fairly tame. Overall, I did like this. It was a quick read that kept me entertained without getting me frustrated with overblown drama. Don't get me wrong, there was overblown drama. But it was resolved fairly quickly and didn't drag out. You have a pretty vagina or a nice vagina or whatever it was he said to her almost made me close the book right there. I can suspend belief like a champ but if someone said that to me during sexy time, I'd be laughing my butt off and would lose my hard-on like woah. ( )

Cannon has a dirty mouth, a filthy mind and an awesome bedside manner. The perfect guy right? If he can get his mind out of the gutter and focus on the things that matter. The Room Mate is a hot commodity. Kendall Ryan can steam it up with the best of them, but still create a story that blends humour, with real issues and sassy delivery. When the tempting bad boy becomes the tempted, all bets are off. Paige and Cannon are about to get schooled and the lessons are unlike any they've learned before. Bring on the water because this crazy pair serves up some serious spice. ( )
