Delightfully bright and warm, "Away" is a very sweet children's book about the relationship between a mom and a daughter, summer camp, nostalgia, and growing up. The sticky note narrative was well executed and makes for a fun read. ( )

Away is a book about a young mother and her daughter communicating with each other through sticky notes. Each time either one of them spoke it would be to each other and on a sticky note. Sometimes life gets busy and there is not always time to talk. This family found a better way to communicate. Her mom reminds her of things they have to get done or have to do. Also, the things she will need for the trip. The daughter is going away to camp soon and she really doesn't want to go. She really wants to stay and be with her mom and cat. Her mom convinces her that it will be okay and to write her while she is there. This story is really adorable and shows how even being different is okay. Also, that being close can be important. ( )

Qin Leng's illustration work is so immersive and always manages to delight me. Paired with a story about a little girl and her busy mom who, though often apart, still manage to connect as a family, this book has succeeded in charming me to my core. ( )
