Kathryn Smith's characters always sparkle and this follow-up to Be Mine Tonight is no exception. Bishop is on a mission to find lost Shadow creatures and is captured by half-vampire, Marika, who believes her mother was murdered by the vampire who "infected" her with vampirism while she was in utero. This is a collision of two strong-minded people who go looking for monsters and find only their other half. This an exiting and dramatic book. I would recommend it to any lover of Paranormal Romance! This is book 2 in the Brotherhood of Blood series. I have not read the first book in the series, but starting with this book did not make me feel behind like I was missing part of the story. I think this is going to be a very good series to continue reading. The story is well told and the characters of Bishop & Markia develop nicely. Bishop definitely endears himself to the reader. Bishop has been a vampire for 700 years and though he wishes nothing more than to live his life in peace, getting humans to believe that vampires are not monsters is a difficult task, and vampire hunters like The Reaper make it even more difficult. Believing that a vampire killed her mother, Irina leads a band of vigilantes, determined to rid the world of these monsters. What no one knows is that Irina herself is half–vampire. Determined to deny that side of her, Irina captures Bishop, believing he can lead her to the vampire responsible for her mother's death. But over the course of Bishop's captivity, secrets about Irina's past are revealed and she soon learns that what she has always believed to be true is anything but. Now Irina and Bishop are in a race against time as they fight for their lives––and their love. This story is fast-paced and contains memorable characters. Perhaps the biggest draw-back is the lack of originality within the vampire world. Many of the characters are straight from White Wolf games and popular vampire movies (but hey, they don't sparkle, Smith gets bonus points just for that) but the characters are well-developed and logical. However, it is still a great read, not too mushy or including too many love scenes (which works well for me). A good read for vampire lovers. "I am the vampire known as Bishop. And I have sworn to destroy evil in this world" When the vampire Bishop returned to Romania for the first time in centuries he never imagined he would find himself the prisoner of a vampire slayer. Nor did he expect to risk his own life to save hers. Marika has spent most of her life killing monsters like the one who killed her mother, and hiding her most dangerous secret. She would use Bishop to her own advantage, but when Marika's own life is threatened she realizes Bishop is her only ally – and the one man who has ever laid claim to her heart. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

After a hiatus of several years, I have finally gotten around to reading the second book in the series and am angry with myself for putting it off for so long.
Kathryn Smith's Brotherhood of Blood series is a shining example of the best of the paranormal romance genre. The backstory involving a group of warriors in search of the Holy Grail, who inadvertently stumble across the Blood Grail and find themselves turned into vampires, is unique and compelling.
This second installment focuses on the warrior known as Bishop and Marika, a dhampir (vampire-human hybrid), who has made it her mission in life to eradicate the creatures she views as evil. Hired by a mysterious group to capture Bishop, Marika finds herself inexplicably drawn to the enigmatic yet strangely "human" vampire, and begins to question her preconceived notions. Their love-hate relationship is very appealing and their chemistry sizzles.
The ongoing arc concerning the Order of the Silver Plam and their quest to obtain the Blood Grail continues, and it will be interesting to see how this develops.
Overall, an excellent read, and I will not be putting off the rest of the series.
