Brilliant. Colorful. Visionary. Tenacious. Witty. Since his appointment to the Supreme Court in 1986, Associate Justice Antonin Scalia has been described as all of these things and for good reason. He is perhaps the best-known justice on the Supreme Court today and certainly the most controversial. Yet most Americans have probably not read even one of his several hundred Supreme Court opinions. In Scalia Dissents, Kevin Ring, former counsel to the U.S. Senate's Constitution Subcommittee, lets Justice Scalia speak for himself. This volume--the first of its kind-- showcases the quotable justice's take on many of today's most contentious constitutional debates. Scalia Dissents contains over a dozen of the justice's most compelling and controversial opinions. Ring also provides helpful background on the opinions and a primer on Justice Scalia's judicial philosophy. Scalia Dissents is the perfect book for readers who love scintillating prose and penetrating insight on the most important constitutional issues of our time.… (altro)

Love him or hate him, he's a brilliant writer, and his scathing dissents are amazing to read. ( )

Scalia Dissents is a great look at what our country should be based on…the rule of law and where the law should come from.

The author does a great job setting the scene for each case and then allowing Scalia's own words to define the character of this Supreme Court Justice. There is very little to say other than Scalia is a master of the written word!!

One can wonder what our country would look like if we had more Scalia's and fewer Souter's (now retired) on the Court. The author gives you a glimpse of this in the last few pages. ( )

A collection of Justice Scalia's opinions with some commentary. If you have a subscription to LexisNexis or Westlaw, you won't need this book. ( )

This book contains a compilation of rulings by conservative Supreme Court associate justice Antonin Scalia, who was appointed to the bench in 1986. Includes his written onions on religion, abortion, the ASA, gay rights, capital punishment, free speech, and affirmative action, referencing the U.S. Constitution and its historical interpretations. This book will give you an insightful look at our Supreme Court. What better time to read this then now, when some of our federal judges are making laws instead of interpreting and ruling on them as they should be. ( )
