Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss. The first picture of those eyes opening and the day beginning. The first question is, “Where are you?” meaning where in the world do you live? The text includes many questions so this is the kind of book children will be discussing with parents and teachers as it is read. Different kinds of home, food, play, hiding places, and families are so well illustrated. The child will be encouraged to think about all the things they are able to do. All sizes, shapes, and abilities are included in the inclusive illustrations. This is a book about how a child sees life and thinks about all the possibilities for his or her future. The paintings in the book are so beautifully illustrated. They show children from all around the world performing daily tasks like eating, playing, doing chores and bathing. It talks about basic human needs such as food, housing, families, and water. It is a busy, busy colorful book and there is a lot to take in. Children will laugh at the underwear page and the bathing page, and yet all illustrations show how we are unique and have similarities at the same time. The Barefoot Book of Children is a well-written book with a great message. This book explains that every person has a unique story to tell. Our differences make us who we are. There are a variety of differences in the world like family structure, race, and language. This story shows readers that we can all learn something from one another. I like the way the author asks multiple questions throughout the story. One example is the last sentence in the book where the text asks "What will happen to your story?" These questions make you reflect on your life and identity. I love the colors in the book. Every page is vibrant and happy. The illustrations have a positive energy which is very enjoyable for the reader. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
