After last volume's parade of guest artists and also-ran characters, Busiek and Anderson trot out some of the biggest names in Astro City for a stellar entry in the series. The very first Astro City story is revisited on its 20th anniversary as Samaritan has some bad dreams and some possibly ominous thoughts about the future of Astro City. Then the First Family gets the "Marvels" treatment as a little alien boy watches from the fringes as they invade his home planet. Finally, former super villain Steeljacket, Astro City's Robert Mitchum homage, gets another story arc on his road to redemption as his first major case as a private detective is to find out who is framing his former cohort in crime, Cutlass.
Best volume in the binge so far, and a great reminder of how terrific this series can be. ( )
