This is the second in the Holiday Duet series. This is a well written romance that is an enjoyable afternoon read.

This story started out okay and I did finish but it was so full of useless details, characters thoughts and not a lot of action. Eventually I started skimming all but dialog and never warmed up to the characters. Hannah is on vacation and on New Years Eve decides to be radical when she meets ex-Secret Service agent Tanner.

In this second contemporary romance set on Coronado Island we delve into Tanner's life nearly a year after the tragic events of an assassination attempt foiled by the Secret Service. Unlike Finn, the male lead of the previous book, Tanner's role in the event was almost a comedy of errors which continues when wholesome school teacher, Hannah Davis lands in his lap on New Year's Eve. While the two dance around each other, Tanner's brother, Troy, and Desiree, the woman who stole Tanner's Secret Service career from him, start a tango of their own as well.

The chemistry of both couples in this book was great as were the bedroom scenes. The attitudes and reactions and feelings of all four players were believable. And the end was satisfyingly nail-biting, though there is no "ending" with Troy and Desiree - perhaps they will make up book 3? It was nice to get a glimpse of Finn and Bailey and see a bit of how they were progressing from where book 1 left off.

I would have given this book 4 stars, but I'm taking away 1/2 because there were some egregious formatting errors in the Kindle edition. Most compound words were split into two words and there were many times where there were hard returns in the middle of sentences. I do wish publishers took greater care in their ebook formatting, especially when they are charging the same amount as the print versions. ( )

A very enjoyable story! Humor, romance, mystery. Loved the prickly secondary romance, too. ( )

This is the first book I’ve read by Christie Ridgway…

I LOVED it!!!! It’s the second book in her Holiday Duet Book Series. I’m thinking I’m going to have to go back and read the first one now.

Since this is the second book in the series, I can definitely say that you don’t have to read the first, to know what’s going on. I didn’t feel lost at all.

The book was MORE than I expected. There is also a little suspense thrown in. That only makes it a little better, if that is even possible.

It’s a little heated romance book. Okay, it’s a really heated romance book. You will definitely need to have a cold shower, just to be able to go to sleep.

If Mrs. Ridgway’s first Duet book is anything like this, she definitely has a new fan….. ( )
