Despite my distaste for Romita Jr.'s art style and the ever-growing Bat-family's diminishing returns for every new sidekick and protege added, Snyder does as usual deliver the goods. This is a good story in the classic 'Batman is prepared for anything, so let's wear him down over time until he's out of answers' tradition, mining and deepening his relationship with Harvey Dent in the process. ( )

This is not a bad story. Scott Snyder write Batman with a combo of fun and grimness that most can't match. That being said, there's something familiar about the conclusion and that's the convenience of everything wrapping up in a manner similar to his previous Batman run. It's as if he does such a great job laying out the experience of Batman that he can't quite figure out a way to make sense of the story. Case in point: Harvey/Two-Face's conclusion just rings hollow.

KGBeast though! Man, I'd love to see more of Snyder's take on this old favourite. ( )

Marquei a leitura do volume em inglês mas li em fascículos da época, em capa cartão lançados em 2017 como Universo Renascimento, mais uma pataquada da cronologia DC. Li uma parte e bem por cima na ocasião, porque Batman e Lanterna verde - principalmente esse último - eram um dos poucos "gibis de linha" que eu acompanhava. Agora lendo devidamente, acho que a história tem bons momentos.

Começa com uma perseguição ao Batman, que precisa atravessar 800 Km até um local onde está uma suposta cura ao Harvey Dent, (o Duas Caras).

O Duas Caras se apossou de todos os segredos obscuros dos cidadãos de Gothan e prometeu liberá-los caso o Batman não seja impedido de ministrar uma cura que destruiria a personalidade maligna de Harvey Dent. E aqui uma coisa interessante que é essa luta eterna de personalidades entre Dent e Duas Caras, com ora uma personalidade se impondo, ora outra.

Além da ameaça de liberar as informações obcuras e deixar escancarar todos os segredos da cidade - da Polícia de Gothan, passando pelo próprio Bruce Wayne - o Duas Caras também ofereceu uma recompensa para quem o resgatar do Batman. Assim, toda a vilania da cidade quer resgatá-lo, e ao mesmo tempo todo mundo em Gothan que o Duas Caras de volta, com medo de ter seus segredos liberados.

O Batman tenta em 5 edições concluir sua missão. Para isso ele conta com a ajuda do Duke Thomas (o Sinal - novo membro da bat-família, criação do Scott Snyder e Greg Capullo).

A história tem momentos como falei, algumas boas lutas e uma arte eficiente: arte do "Romitinha" (John Romita Jr.) que andou esbanjando simpatia aqui pela CCXP há pouco tempo atrás.

Na versão nacional que li são duas histórias no mix, a principal e uma sobre como está o treinamento de Duke para ser um novo parceiro de Batman, mas com alguma ligação posterior com o Duas Caras.

If you're looking for dark visuals and super-serious Batman then you're in the wrong place. This is a massive road trip with Batman taking Two-face to find a 'cure' but thanks to Two-face's intervention everyone (villain, friends, and strangers) is trying to kill Batman and free Two-Face.
The artwork is okay but strange in places. But the colouring is great. Bright and inviting compared to other Batman comics I've read. ( )

One thing for sure, Scott Snyder is very good at writing expansive plots that seem to never end. This one is no different: Batman has to take Two-Face several hundred miles to a secret location in which Harvey Dent has planted... something. Through this trek, they face a wide range of bad guys as well as "normal" people after a bounty.

This wasn't bad, but it seemed like I've read this one before. Batman and Dent are accosted nonstop, but nothing stops them, or even slow them down. It actually got kind of tedious, unfortunately. ( )
