Goodreads Synopsis:

"An Unlikely Couple Struggles to Reconcile the Burdens of Their Past

Brett knows this mystery girl is hiding something--but he's got his own secrets to keep. What will happen when he discovers who she really is? Will Dani and Brett look beyond their own heartaches to discover a love that could heal their deepest pain?
Fresh, flirty, and fast-paced, "When Love Arrives" is an engaging story that will have readers falling in love with the characters as they navigate the tricky waters between romance and revenge."

The Good: Even though this is technically the second book in the "Misty Willows" series I was not lost reading this as a stand alone book. This book drew me in from page one. I was captivated and could not put it down. There were times, however, that I actually did have to put it down but it was to cringe or cheer. I loved how the perspective of the story changed from Brett to Dani and even to Meghan at times. It was organized so well that you never got confused or lost as to who you were reading through. I loved seeing how they all felt at certain major events.

These characters were so well developed and complex and I enjoyed how they changed and matured over the course of the book. This book also served as a nice reminder of how God works in our lives to change us. When our lives feel out of control and u[side down, sometimes that is God bringing about the necessary change in our lives. Their lives were relatable and intriguing.

The Bad: It ended, and way too soon. I don't have anything else bad to say about this book.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romances or a happy story. This was a book I could get lost in and forget my troubles. If you are looking for that type of book, look no further.

This is the first book I have read by this author. This is also the second book in the Misty Willow series. Yet, it can be read as a stand alone novel. I fell easily instantly into the story as well as Dani and Brett. They conversed well together. While there was not a lot of down time before they were spending time together, they still moved slowly and it felt like they shared a real connection.

Before I really knew Brett I thought and had set my mind up that Brett was going to be the bad guy in this story. Yet, as I got to know him better, I found that he was a nice guy. He just was a little broken. However when he met Dani she helped him to heal and in the process she healed herself. I enjoyed this book. It was easy to read. I will check out more books by this author. ( )

Title: When Love Arrives (A Novel: Misty Willow #2)
Author: Johnnie Alexander
Pages: 368
Year: 2016
Publisher: Revell
My rating is 5 stars.
Johnnie Alexander has crafted a heart touching sequel to the first novel in the series titled “Where She Belongs” where the story line begins. In book one we meet Shelby recently widowed with two little girls and her move to Misty willows. Also there is a young man named A.J. who through various seasons of his relationship with Shelby as it comes to an exciting and wonderful conclusion. There are other characters and happenings in the book; one character who takes the center stage in book 2 is A.J.’s cousin Brett.
Brett at first is a love and leave ‘em kind of man used to having money to spare and no cares about how he treats others until his life becomes more complicated by unforeseen changes. Brett’s self-centered personality begins to change as he wonders if he will ever get to see his son and meets a single woman named Dani. What he doesn’t know is what ties the two of them together and when he learns about the event he sets out on a course he never has explored.
Johnnie Alexander weaves a very believable drama with faith issues that I believe most readers will be able to identify with in some way . Dani’s past surfaces little by little in the story as well as her original intent on facing Brett. I really enjoyed reading how hearts, minds and souls were touched and changed from the beginning of the book till the end. Seeing how some characters had to reach the very bottom of their lives before they would reach out for help, or acknowledge their need for God struck me as pretty real.
Coming in Summer of 2017 there will bea 3rd book in this series though the title has been revealed at the end of the book a teaser is included for interested readers. I hope you enjoy both books before the 3rd one is released so you can follow the plot, understand some of the characters personal histories as they are revealed. Romance, faith, family seemed to be the three main threads of the books I wonder what you will see when you enjoy them? Enjoy the journey of discovering faith and love n the Misty Willows series!

WHEN LOVE ARRIVES is the first book I have read by Johnnie Alexander, but it will not be the last. It has some complexity of characters where they are working through the good as well as the bad in their lives. Dani spent years in various foster homes after she was left with her step-father when her mother was killed in a plane she was piloting. Now she is going to find something damaging about the man whose parents were also killed in that private plane. Brett came out saying it wasn’t an accident and that the pilot killed his parents, and his aunt and uncle who were on the plane. The problem is he spots her with the camera, makes conversation not knowing who she is, and thus begins their “friendship” because neither one is interested in dating. His history is one of a playboy, but she is finding a very different person who is kind and thoughtful. Brett has become a different man, and Dani is bringing out the best in him. Dani is that good hearted, blushing woman, but she is hiding the secret that her mom was the pilot and that when Brett first saw Dani, she was spying on him. So what happens when a rather good woman keeps a secret that she came to wreck him, but finds herself coming to like him – a bit too much? And what happens to a guy who has just discovered he has a son w ho is in a coma in the hospital and has sworn off dating- but enjoys the company of a woman completely different than others he has used?
How do people work through anger toward someone? Can a man really change from a life of “use them and leave?” Can people really forgive someone who has hurt them? Read this book to discover a story of “get back at someone” or really care about the person. I recommend this book for a good simple Christian fiction read which is not preachy, but filled with a good message.

I received this book from the publisher for this honest review. ( )
