Murder and the seedy underbelly of this city associated with the rich and glamorous are showcased in this book written as fiction with a strong ring of truth. The book is based on a real incident with a victim, Rodger Kriger who is a tad shady and the main character, Mitt Hecher, who is a bit of a thug and someone you don't really like but end up feeling for him. Did he really kill Kriger?
I found the characters well written and the book was fast paced and hard to put down at times. Unfortunately it illustrates our imperfect justice system and corruption at all levels. Bob Brink has written an interesting book and a fascinating look at Mitt Hecher's story. This is good read and well worth your time. ( )

Author Bob Brink throws a lot at readers in the opening of the story. A shotgun murder, a wrongful conviction, an unscrupulous, corrupt law system, and many distrustful and shady people. All this brings the reader a feeling of shock and unease which leads to an overwhelming concern and sympathy for Mitt Hecher, the main character. He loses his life, and everything it entails, for a crime he did not commit. What an injustice, which happens all too often. He must prove his innocence against all odds, and that is what this book is all about.

Murder in Palm Beach by Bob Brink is an exciting, fast-paced read that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. I couldn’t put this book down and read it late into the night. I love true crime stories and this is one of the best ones I have ever read. The character development is superb, while the dialog is pure, excellent and very impressive.

Bob Brink has a way with words that keeps readers fully engaged. The story line and plot are sheer genius, and oh so very entertaining. There is a lot going on in this story with sex, unjust use of power, romance, murder, investigations and much more. Murder in Palm Beach is intriguing, engrossing and fully compelling. It is thought provoking and very interesting. This is a real page turner and a riveting political crime thriller. An innocent man wrongly convicted, set free to exact justice and find the real killer. This is a must-read book for all avid true-crime readers. Highly recommended. ( )

This book grabbed me and drew me in from the first chapter. It’s a scary account of how our criminal justice works. The protagonist Mitt Heckler wasn’t a choir boy by no means but what happened to him was beyond belief, the sad part is that it happens more than we the public knows. I’ve read excerpts from other reviews and I have to agree this would be a great television mini-series. I would watch it for sure.

Accused of a murder he did not commit
An interesting story of miscarriage of justice wrapped around courts, the judicial system and the incarceration system. This story revolves around Mitt Hecher, a family man accused and imprisoned for a murder he did not commit and how he eventually turns his sentence around through the help of many people who believe in him, especially his wife, son and mother. Among new activities he instigates with the help of the officials within the prison such as karate lessons. As a Canadian, I wasn't sure if some offered activities would actually be an acceptable exercise in the system. However, the action and response to such a request obviously made a difference to the inmates and their attitudes, not to mention its value in preparing long-term residents for their upcoming freedom. Will the loss of his very ill wife deter Hecher from trying to redeem himself and also from fighting for the truth to come out? Will he ever know who the real killer was? I found I really enjoyed reading this book regardless of the anger it generated with falsehoods and blocked hearings which should have been heard and acted upon. But truth sometimes really does come out and provides the reader with a feeling of good over evil. ( )

The author of Murder in Palm Beach, Bob Brink, is a former newspaper journalist and once you know that you can really see it in how writing. There is a clear knowledge of the system in which our developing protagonist, Hecher, is struggling through. When reading through the description of the local area you get a real authentic flavor and a feel for the lives these characters are living, from the bright shiny world of Palm Beach more people probably know about to the dark, gritty underworld you may not have expected.
