Matt works in a glass studio (Morgantown Art Glass) that his father started, and his family is now trying to keep the business afloat since his dad's passing. Erin and Matt live in the same apartment building, on the same floor, three doors away from each other. Matt lives alone and Erin has a roommate (Sarah). Matt has been crazy about Erin for a long time but Erin just thinks of Matt as a friend. Matt's an easy going guy. Erin is impulsive. Matt thinks they blend well together and Erin makes Matt feel complete. Erin wants fireworks. Erin is afraid of giving them a try to be a couple because could they ever go back to being friends afterwards? Matt's friendship is one of the most important things Erin has.
After hearing from a friend of Erin's that she thinks he's boring and predictable Matt decides to go all out and surprise Erin with his "Matt is Not Boring Experiment". He wakes Erin up early one day with a spreadsheet, and he has plans to do different, fun things with her. But while he is trying to make her see him as more than a friend Erin starts going out with a rich, handsome Broadway star (Brennan Avery) and she finally gets a chance at the big time.
This was an appealing and clean romance. Matt was a sweet and wonderful hero, he was always there for Erin. I liked his occupation, as a glass-blowing artist. It was a different and interesting career. I liked when he took Erin to Pittsburgh to see a famous glass artist at the Carnegie, and then later he took her to the Benedum to see "Guys and Dolls". Erin could be annoying at times. She was too wrapped up in herself to see how she sometimes was using Matt, which he pointed out to her later in the book. Eventually Erin began to see how perfect Matt was for her after she got a taste of fame and found out it wasn't as satisfying as she thought it would be, since she missed Matt.
A short and lovely read. ( )
