Dan's favorite festive sweater is so ugly, it's cost him not one but three boyfriends and sent him back to his parents' place for the third Christmas in a row. About to give up hope of ever having a Christmas date, Dan meets Jake, a hot guy with a rock and roll edge. Jake is infatuated with Dan's sweater but vanishes before Dan can decide if Jake is for real or really in need of an eye-check. After all, no one has ever liked the sweater. Dan's sweater is rocketed to national attention, when Jake's radio colleagues launch a hunt for the mystery man in the hideous jumper. Dan jumps at the chance to meet Jake again, and they hit it off in a big way, to the accompaniment of intimate gigs, exclusive clubs, and the paparazzi. Dan falls hard, but despite obvious mutual attraction, Jake refuses to take him back to his apartment. Is the relationship real - or a ratings stunt? After all, Jake has a reputation for cool that Dan, a lowly gym instructor, could never approach. Is a fondness for tacky Christmas clothing the only thing they have in common? Or does uber-cool Jake hide a Christmas secret of his own ?The Ugliest Sweater contains adult content suitable for mature readers only.… (altro)

A cute Christmas short. ( )

The Ugliest Sweater is the story of Dan, who loves tacky Christmas objects and ugly Christmas sweaters, and Jake an ultra-cool radio host who has an image to maintain. This story was told in third person from both Dan and Jake’s pov.

What can I say, silly, cheesy, over the top stories like this are my kind of book. This was a fun, fast read and well written. The one issue I had was when Dan thought back on something Jack did. The transition to indicate that what Dan was thinking about was a memory wasn’t there. The segue felt like I was reading Jack’s pov. It was only when the scene was over, did I realize that it was Dan’s memory. It took me out of the story and I had to reread that part for it to make sense of what was happening.

Dan is a very hot, nice guy, who refused to give up his ugly Christmas sweater which leads to him moving back in with his parents. One day while he’s out, he meets Jake at a coffee shop and sparks fly. The story takes on a Cinderella quality when Jake flees and neither, Dan or Jake know how to find the other. That’s resolved eventually in a cute way and they start dating, but Jake is hiding a secret which Dan misconstrues into multiple incorrect possibilities.

The theme for this book seems to revolve around ‘the coolness factor.’ Both men worry about ‘being cool’ but in different ways. This is what causes the misunderstandings. It’s resolved of course, and leads to their HEA.

I read some of the other reviews that said this book was over-the-top. Since I like fun reads like this, I enjoyed it. It’s cute, fluffy, a quick read and if any of the follow up books in the series are like this one, I’d read them. I give The Ugliest Sweater, 4 Stars.

Christmas sweaters are a tradition in a few countries (they’re called Christmas jumpers in the UK), but the “ugly Christmas sweater” is, apparently, a relatively recent tradition. Brought to life by a couple of Hollywood celebrities in the 1980s and revived around 2001 to gain new heights by 2011 and onward, they can be defined as “a wooly pullover with questionable color mixing and patterns” – the gaudier the better. In this story set in London, Dan is a total ugly Christmas sweater fan, and he has mastered the art of wearing one to the point that his three most recent breakups happened around Christmas, when he was wearing his ugliest sweater of all.

When Dan meets Jake in a coffee shop of international fame and the stranger is the first guy to actually admire the atrociously ugly Christmas sweater Dan wears like a badge of honor, Dan thinks he is dreaming. After a heated exchange in the bathroom, Jake vanishes and Dan is left to wonder if he has imagined it all. But then his work colleagues at the fitness studio where Dan teaches Pilates inform him that Jake has been looking for him – via the radio – and Dan is launched into an incredibly romantic adventure with the ugly-sweater-admirer of his dreams.

Jake is a radio DJ of some fame and has an “ugly” secret of his own. On top of that he has a tough time trusting anyone – many people have only pretended to like him while all they wanted was for him to launch their music careers. So while it is evident that he likes Dan, and they get on amazingly well, Jake holds back to the point that Dan wonders what the problem is. The resolution is unexpected, but totally in character for these two guys. I loved it!

If you like Christmas stories with lots of humor, if ugly Christmas sweaters are your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is funny, even a little over the top in a good way, then you will probably enjoy this outrageously funny, yet very romantic and very hot novella.

3.5 Stars--I needed a book to decompress from the mental fucking I received from the last book I read...I still didn't know how to review it either. *mutters & looks off*

Anyway, this was the perfect book for that.

This book, this Jizzmas book? It's not my go-to-book. But what sold me was the author's infectious video and reading from her book that I had to add it to my wish list. And I'm so happy that I did.

It's fucking adorable!

It features Dan and his clueless yet awesomely hideous and confident Jizzmas sweater wearing abilities. He is a fitness instructor with a banging body who seems to strike out in the love department for the last few Christmases. And Jake Boss (I kept reading it as Jake Bass - Freudian slip?) a radio DJ with a tongue piercing and a condition not everyone can handle.

What kind of condition?

He's one of those people.

Y'know a Christmaholic:

You might think what's so bad about that? (You might even be one of those Christmaholics. Look there's a case of gingerbread cookies behind you! *runs opposite direction*)

Well, Christmas paraphernalia really gets Jake' motor going. I'd rather you read the story than spoil this hilarious, cracky, slightly cheesy (but in a good way) experience.

It was cute, the semi-public sex scene gets two thumbs up for me. It had a stronger start and somewhere toward the end, it got slightly softer? I liked that Dan and Jake got to know one other after their first encounter and outside of the "celebrity".

Definitely readable if you're into Christmas loving romance. It's light and infectious.

Jake...this one's for you:

Popped a boner there, Jake? ;P Bet ya did.

P.S. Thanks to my Jizzmas Unicorn! " ( )
