This book portrays a street performer who has a monkey that is running around town causing chaos wherever he goes. The book has no words, so the reader has to pay attention to the small details that the illustrator has incorporated in order to tell the story. The students will have to use predictions and inferencing in order to tell what might happen next in the story, but the reader will also have to use background knowledge in order to be able to understand the story completely. This book is appropriate for all ages and grade levels. ( )

This book was so good! I really enjoyed reading and interpreting the pictures to figure out the story line of the book. I feel like this is a really engaging book and is a really engaging way to incorporate making inferences and drawing conclusion from the context clues given. Overall, I would like to do a read aloud of this book in the classroom and have the children draw conclusions from the pictures given. ( )

This book is about a street performer chasing his monkey around town. It shows beautiful illustrations which would grab a readers attention and understand the story. This book could be shown to first through sixth grade. It could be used to teach a lesson about prediction, imaginative or descriptive writing. ( )

This book is about a street performer whos monkey gets away and everywhere they go something happens. This is great book to introduce students to the idea of cause and effect in literature and in real life. This would be good to use to teach about consequences for behavior and actions in and outside the classroom. ( )

This book was a clever and exhilarating ride. The story starts with a street performer who is chasing after his monkey who has run away in order to go after a banana. There are no words in this picture book. Only a series of chaotic events carries the narrative along. As the monkey chases the banana, a person slips on the discarded banana peel and sets in motion a series of chained events that lead people to some mildly disruptive set back. Each page introduces new characters that eventually have a change in their situation because of the initial slip from the banana. Here is how it starts: a man falls from a slipped banana peel that causes him to knock someone off a latter. The man falling off the latter then runs into a woman walking lots of dogs. The dogs escape as she is startled by the man falling from the latter. This is the start of a series of events all effected by the banana. It's crazy how much change one banana peel can cause for so many people. This book makes the reader pay close attention to the setting and how it changes. The last page of the book even gives a map of the streets in which all these events unfold. ( )
