As others have said, some software examples are a little dated, but Peter has written the book to be software independent. He uses Iview as an example, but you can apply the principles to any comparable software. Don't read it for detailed techniques about what keys to press or buttons to push; read it to re-examine your own workflow and methods regarding DAM. It was quite a paradigm shift for me, and I've become considerably more efficient managing my 200,000+ images. One of the few books about managing large collections of digital images. Essential steps in the workflow are outlined: image database design, hardware requirements, storage and keywording strategies, and choice of software. Unfortunately, sections (of this otherwise useful book) are badly in need of revision: coverage of Abobe Bridge and dedicated DAM software is especially outdated. Great book on digital asset management. Really helped me get organized. Unfortunately it is now a bit dated since Peter used iView Pro (which was awesome) and this software has been replaced by MS Expressions. I would like to see another edition with Lightroom specific DAM examples. Still the information that is not software specific was excellent. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Can you find your digital photographs when you need them, or do you spend more time rifling through your hard drive and file cabinets than you'd like? Do you have a system for assigning and tracking content data on your photos? If you make a living as a photographer, do your images bear your copyright and contact information, or do they circulate in the marketplace unprotected? As professional photographer and author Peter Krogh sees it, ""your DAM system is fundamental to the way your images are known, both to you and to everyone else."" My review is based on the second edition of this book (May 2009), which has obviously been updated to cover more recent software, and therefore solve most of the issues that have been pointed out in older reviews. Specifically, references to iView have been updated with MS Expression Engine and there is broad coverage of Lightroom-based workflows. ( )
