"New York Times bestselling author Shane Dawson returns with another highly entertaining and uproariously funny essay collection, chronicling a mix of real life moments both extraordinary and mortifying, yet always full of heart. Shane Dawson shared some of his best and worst experiences in I Hate Myselfie, the critically acclaimed book that secured his place as a gifted humorist and keen observer of millennial culture. Fans felt as though they knew him after devouring the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, Los Angeles Times, and Wall Street Journal bestseller."--… (altro)

The review on the cover suggested that the author "deserves comparison to David Sedaris", and that's not too far off the mark, both draw on their childhood experiences as youths feeling a bit outside the circle of their high school and both are adept at turning in collections of essays into a marketable book. That being said, it's no "Me Talk Pretty one Day". ( )

Shane Dawson book is a quick and fun read. The book highlights shane's coming of age with the use of laugh out loud humor. ( )

Just as funny as the first one.
I like his moms chapter at the very end.
I love getting the inside scoop to other people’s lives. ( )

I'm not sure this is a book people would like if they're not already fans of Shane Dawson, but as someone who's been watching him for years, I found it massively entertaining. I can't say I ever laughed out loud, but this is a funny book. It's also pretty raw, and heartbreaking in places. A must read for any fan of Dawson's. ( )

I liked it, read it all in two goes, Shane's humour isn't my kind of humour and at times it felt too much, I do wonder if he doesn't embellish stories too much at times, he is obviously exaggerating stuff, but I'll have to trust the core of the stories is true and he does have some interesting experiences and insight.

It's not a masterpiece, it's not the highest quality of writing ever, but it's not that kind of book, is entertaining, it's good, and below all the jokes it feels real, I find Shane's life intriguing, born in such a low class life and then becoming the millionaire he is now he still has so many problems, he surprisingly has been through a lot, his obesity, bullying, struggling with his sexuality, bulimia, being poor, self steem issues, but even though it's not over he has found the way to overcome and keep going, and that's amazing, he ain't the story of an overachiever, of a perfect example, he's a normal guy that struck gold by following his dream, with his nice loving and fucked up family beside him, and that's inspirational in a different way, not the perfect story, just a story, I don't really agree with his humour but he's probably a good model for many kids that are were he has been.

(And he is very persistent, even if he hadn't become a YouTube star he'll probably be okay doing stand up or something, I do not believe it was only luck that got him here). ( )
