This is a book about a young boy who is ready to face the many faces of the water. He is warned by gitchi gumee that it will take many seasons for him to truly understand his many faces but the boy, who is called Oshikanawe, is ready to face the waters. He sails across the waters until he is and adult and understands the many faces of the water.

My children loved this book because they were able to find the hidden face of gitchi gumee on every page of the book.

I will introduce this book to my class so that they will understand the difference in the waters of each season. I will have them each draw a picture of the season that they most enjoy during the year.
