The purpose of this book is an application of exegetical method(s) to the Epistle of the Galatians. This book is neither an introduction to New Testament exegesis, nor is it a commentary. Taking the latter item first, though this book may not be a commentary, he does interact with much of biblical scholarship on the book of Galatians and shows the flaws in some of its conclusions as well as providing his own rationale for the conclusions he has come to. Though it may not be a step-by-step guide to exegesis, he establishes many principles, argued cogently, that provide essential foundation for students of the New Testament. This is the main function of the book, to prepare the student for making more responsible exegetical conclusions. So if someone wants a practical book that actually shows 'exegesis in action' this book can serve that purpose. ( )
