Todo empezó cuando Zoe Haratounian se hizo famosa. Una sencilla maestra de una escuela infantil de Londres abate a un ladrón con una sandía. Se había convertido en una especie de heroína, una celebridad, y resultaba divertido. Las fotos y las entrevistas dejaron paso a las cartas; primero una, felicitándola, luego otra, dándole las gracias por ser una buena ciudadana, y después otra y otra, montones de ellas; cartas de apoyo y de recriminación, mensajes de gente solitaria que hacen que Zoe sienta de algún modo que poco a poco van invadiendo su intimidad.
A Zoe, su propia vida le parece anodina; su trabajo en el colegio, un piso sórdido que compró en un mal momento, y su nuevo amor, Fred, al que, por ahora, solo le une el sexo y los amigos de él. Así que lo único que quiere Zoe es que las cartas dejen de llegar, vender su piso y continuar con su vida como si nada hubiera pasado. Pero no será tan fácil. La última carta que ha recibido no es como las otras. Contiene un par de hermosos cumplidos, una referencia a su belleza, al color de su pelo, y una sencilla frase: "Voy a matarte".

Again a birthday present, I probably would not have chosen it myself, but this one I actually quite liked.

The story follows three women who are being stalked by the same guy. So far, so good, but the clever thing is, that you're supposed to have figured out the whole whodunit halfway trough the book. This gives you enormous advantage over them, and I thought it made it very interesting to read. I was a little bit disappointed by the ending though. Still, an enjoyable read... ( )

Goed boek, ik vond het aangenaam om te lezen. Het is spannend en je blijft geboeid. Wel een aanrader. ( )

It was the first Nicci French novels that I read. I liked this mystery...kept me reading.
