The story was a bit confusing to follow at first and the art seemed to change styles a little too often for my liking. This was an advanced copy so maybe a few things have changed, but I don't think they would have made any major changes really. I was hoping that the story would have tied in more with the Supergirl show and it was completely different. I really enjoy the basis for Martian Manhunter, but this could have been executed a bit better. ( ) I picked this up because I liked the version of Martian Manhunter that I have seen on the Justice League. Granted I had never gotten his origin story before so I don’t know how close to the original one this one is but I really didn’t like it. I tried to like it and parts of the character that I liked from before are here but not enough to make me want to read the anymore of this version of the character. Digital review copy provided by the publisher through NetGalley This was sorta weird, at least at first. We met the Martian Manhunter, and then suddenly he was gone, but he sorta wasn't. Confused me just a little. But, once I got what they were doing with the story, how they had slightly realigned the story from where I was used to it being (from pre-Convergence, pre-New 52 with the scientist and the transporter etc. etc.) it was a very cool story. We got to see all the different sides of the Martian Manhunter. I also found myself comparing this character to the one that is currently on Supergirl. It was interesting to see how they were alike and how they were different. And then the end. Definite cliffhanger (one of the side effects of reading these stories via Trade Paperback instead of issue to issue). Can't wait for the next TPB. I got this galley through Netgalley on behalf of DC Entertainment. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
"For some time now, Martian Manhunter has been lost in our world. An alien in every aspect, he has struggled to find his place even after joining the Justice League of America, Justice League United and Stormwatch. Now his past has come back to haunt him, as an alien invasion threatens to destroy the world. In order to validate to himself, as well as the world, that he is the hero he knows himself to be, the Martian Manhunter must make the ultimate sacrifice. What happens next, is truly alien! This unique new take on the longtime Justice League member is here in MARTIAN MANHUNTER VOL. 1, written by Rob Williams and stunning art by Eddy Barrows.
