After reading a loving the Cassie Palmer series, I wonder why I waited so long to get to Dorina. Oh well, better late than never. ( ) When i first discovered this series several years ago, i instantly fell in love with Dory's in-your-face brand of justice. There is something almost cathartic about reading her hilarious interactions with whoever crosses her path, friend or foe. This book did not disappoint on that score. Backed into a corner and faced with Kit Marlowe's rather intense and single-minded focus -- and not in the good way -- Dory once again comes out swinging. Hats off to the author for yet another fantastic read! If you enjoy this series, don't forget to check out the Cassandra Palmer series, also by this author, for an equally magical and chaos packed read. Set in the same world with another amazing cast of players (And some old friends) both series have remained firmly at the top of my 'read again' list for more than a decade now. I love this series so much I’m re-reading it...again. In Zombie’s Bite we meet Dory, a dhampir (half vampire and half human). She’s been hired by the South American Vampire Senate to hunt down a bad little vamp. Dory has tracked the vamp to New Orleans and that’s where things go sideways. Now she has to figure out what’s really going on and save her own life in the process. Don’t be fooled, this isn’t your typical vampires in New Orleans type book. Yes, this novella is set in the Big Easy but the rest of the series is not. You get bits of the culture but the focus is more on the stinky bayou and “tiny winged vampires” or mosquitoes. I love Dory because she kicks ass and uses a lot of fun magical toys/weapons while doing it. As a dhampir she’s almost as strong as a vampire, has their increased sense of smell and hearing, but in turn she smells human to vamps. This keeps her a step ahead as the bogeyman of vampire kind. I do wish this story had been a bit longer, the ending wrapped up quickly. But I love all the action and getting to know Kit Marlowe better (yes, Marlowe is a vampire!). Plus I can never get enough of Karen Chance’s writing style. I highly recommend and can’t wait to start the next book :) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
