I really like this book designated to beginner readers for two reasons: illustrations and nonfiction. The illustrations in this picture book are very realistic and engaging. The illustrations correctly depict dinosaurs for the readers; and therefore keeps readers engaged in their learning. The illustrations show an enormous amount of detail. For example, in the picture of the Stegosaurus, cracks and wrinkles are visible in the skin of the dinosaur. The picture book is also nonfiction. Readers are reading accurate information about the various types of dinosaurs including: the Triceratops, Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, Dimorphodon, and many more. The description of each dinosaur in Jurassic World is also engaging and detailed. For example, “The T-rex had a diet of flesh and bone. It ate up to 22 tons of meat per year.” The big idea of this story is to get beginning readers learning in children’s literature. Readers are being informed about the variety included in Jurassic World. ( )
