This book is about a dinosaur who feels out of place compared to everyone else. Danny doesn't understand because everyone loves dinosaurs. Then the dinosaur explains that he's not upset about being a dinosaur; he loves being a dinosaur. He's upset because he's too tall. He can't lay in bed without everything sticking out of the bed, getting into doors is too hard, telling people hello is awkward, and people are always asking him how the weather is up there. Then Danny took the dinosaur to the zoo to show him the elephants, who are really tall, but not as tall as the dinosaur. Then Danny showed the dinosaur the giraffes, who are really tall, but not as tall as the dinosaur. The dinosaur still felt out of place because nobody is tall like him. When they left the zoo, the dinosaur saw a man at his eye level in a crane, so he stopped to ask him how the weather is up there. They both watched the man work until a gust of wind came and the crane began to sway. The man needed help so the dinosaur told the man to grab onto him and took him safely to the ground. This completely changed the dinosaur's mind. The dinosaur finally thought that being tall was great after all.

This is a great book for beginning readers. It has short sentences and familiar words so that the students will be able to practice reading. I also really love the message that this book delivers to students: never be ashamed of who you are. Even though the dinosaur felt different from everyone else because of his height, he would have never been able to save that man if it weren't for his height. ( )
