In this story Pinky (the daughter of a women who is divorced and getting remarried) is showing many emotions. She really likes her mothers fiancé but is so confused on what she is feeling. She was the ring bearer in her moms wedding which I thought was cool because that is usually a boys job. Pinky is so excited to be in her mothers wedding but doesn't want to feel guilty because she thinks her mom and dad still want to be together. Once her dad tells her his feeling towards the wedding and that he is happy for her mother so she changes her attitude. She figures out its okay to love two dads. This story is great to read to students whose parents recently went through divorce and would be a comforting message for them. I think that many children can relate to this book. It was also interesting how the text and illustration were set up (illustrations were on one side and text on the other) This book shows the different problems kids are faced with when their parents get remarried. ( ) After finishing this book, I thought it was a good book that many kids out there can relate to. The plot is focused on a young girl and her thoughts about her mother marrying another man. You can see internal conflict happen in the story during the wedding when she hesitates giving the rings to her mother and her soon to be step-dad. Any situation similar to this difficult and it shows kids that it is normal to have this internal battle. Illustrations were on point and correlate well with the text. With the pictures on one side and text on the other makes it easy for readers to focus. The main message of the story is to show how to overcome new situations and in the end, it all works out. I love this book. I think it has a very different topic that a lot of children may be able to relate to. I thought it is great that the author made the plot around a young girl and her thoughts about her mother getting married to a new man. The internal struggle that the girl has is obvious when she holds the rings from the bride and groom. This is great for children to see that it is okay to be conflicted in a situation like this. I also enjoyed how the illustrations and text were set up. The illustrations are always on one side, and the text is on the other. This makes it very clear for a child to read. It makes it easier as well, which I consider a good thing since it has such heavy content. The main idea of this story is to educate children on a situation that they might not be familiar with, or help those who are familiar to relate. New situations, such as your mother getting re-married, are a little scary and conflicting. In the end, everything works out just fine. This is a book about a little girl whose parents are divorced and her mom is getting remarried. She feels bad for her dad, who is attending the wedding, so she hides the rings from her mom and soon to be stepdad. I would use this book to help me teach students about divorced parents getting remarried. This is appropriate for grades 1-4. This is a sweet story about a little girl who is going to be in her mom's second wedding. She likes her new soon to be step dad but feels guilty about it because she also loves her real dad. She tries to get her real dad back together with her mom at the wedding but he explains to her that they are just friends and just friends don't need to be married. The little girl understands later that it is ok to love both her dad and new step dad. This is a greats tory to read if a child's parents are getting remarried and having to accept new people in the family.
