waltzmn: Franz Rickaby's collection of lumberjack songs was the first real collection of folk songs from the Big Woods area of the Upper Midwest. Jame P. Leary's volume of songs which were field recorded in the area, produced almost a century later, documents many of the songs of the same region, and includes recordings. Anyone wanting to know about midwestern folk songs will want both books.… (altro)
