Very slow to start, with disparate plot lines, finishing with a zinger. This story, based in Stockholm, is primarily about shame and prostitution. Young girls from Lithuania forced to work off their illegal immigation "costs" by submitting to sex a dozen times a day, and dirty cops. Good tension, a bit reminiscent of the Stieg Larsson series. adult crime fiction. Reading very much like Stieg Larsson's trilogy, here is another suspenseful read from a Scandinavian author. I didn't like it as much because it doesn't have the strong female character that triumphs in the end (well, depending on how you look at it), but it will keep readers satisfied for a couple of days--the amount of time it takes to finish it. Read all my reviews on http://urlphantomhive.booklikes.com I've read some of the books by Roslund and Hellstrom and I've yet to find one that disappoints me. Box 21 however might be the best one yet. I was immediately into the story and found it very hard to put down. Even after finishing it, I took the story with me for quite some time. I would certainly recommend it to people who like the Scandinavian crime novel. Ugh. I knew this wasn't going to end well from the first chapter. I also sort of knew all the "mysterious" players from just the first section. The blurb says something like "Box 21 is a mind-blowing psychological thriller of the highest order." The only mind blowing is from a gun in the book. Ugh. And Library Journal, your "This excellent crime thriller is bound to please fans of Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo..." is a low down dirty lie.
Books are books — except when they’re movies trapped between the covers of a book. "Box 21" has something of that trapped quality. Scene by violent scene, this thriller by Anders Roslund and Borge Hellstrom (in a blunt, uncredited translation from the Swedish) never loses sight of Lydia Grajauskas. È contenuto in
