Summary:
This book is compiled of poems that can be read to children at bedtime. They are very well organized to create a very calming affect for the reader. The pictures help with this.

Personal Reflection:
I’ve always loved lullabies. I think they are a great way of helping children go to sleep. I wish I would have been read lullabies before I went to sleep as a child. My children will definitely be read books like this one before they go to sleep.

Extension Ideas:
1. Explain to the students what a lullaby and poem are. Give them some pointers and allow them some time to create their own poems.
2. Because this book has to do with sleep, the students could be explained the human sleeping cycle. After they understand the cycle, they can try and evaluate their own sleeping cycle

Summary: A book with different poems to read to children before they go to sleep. All the poems are relaxing and the pictures are calming.

Personal Reaction: My favorite poems were “Golden Slumbers” an English lullaby and “Night” by William Blake. I like that the book included “Lullaby” by Christian Rossetti and “Lullaby and Good Night” from the German, because I wasn’t sure what the words were in the poems.

Classroom Extension:
1. Read a poem to the students before nap time.
2. Print off a poem from the book and send it home with the students to read or have their guardians read to them before bed.

Summary:

This book is a collection of good night lullaby’s and good night poems.

Lullaby and Goodnight, from the German
This poem reminds me of most lullabies. This poem has a light rhythm with some repetition.

The Land of Nod, by Robert Louis Stevenson
I liked this poem because of the imagination that is described in the poem.

Extension Ideas:
1. I would talk to the kids about repetition and help them come up with their own repetitions.
2. I would have the students figured out the difference between a poem and a poem/lullaby that is meant for bedtime.

" I see the moon" is a collection of good night poems and lullabies. Lullaby and Goodnight is about falling asleep and angels guard you while you sleep. "The sandman comes talks about coming to your bed, putting dreaming white sands on you and every child.

This book is very colorful and makes you very relaxing to read these poems to students and child. I enjoyed readinga this book before bed to make me want to dream and go to sleep.

This book is great to be used in the classroom right before naptime. To help the children relax and probably go to sleep. ( )

This book is a collection of 12 Good Night Poems and Lullabies by various famous poets.

I enjoyed this collection of poems because of the nighttime setting that the poems related too. My daughter really enjoyed the African-American spiritual Kumbaya. She was even trying to sing along with me.

I would incorporate this book in a classroom by getting my students to read and select one of the poems to talk about and discuss with the rest of the class.
