Emily Dickinson is a poet that was published after her death. When Emily Dickinson died her sister ,Lavinia, came across her 1,775 poems left in a drawer. Emily Dickinson spent most of her days in her room writing poetry. She wore only white in the summer and winter. In the book, "Emily Dickinson's Letters to the World" it is 21 beautiful poems by Emily Dickson explaining how she viewed things in her eyes.

This biography is significant because it provides and introduction to who Emily Dickinson is. This biography also gives the readers 21 of her 1,775 poems. The book also accurately states how Emily Dickinson's poems where found in her room after her death. ( )

A great nonfiction to share the life of a great poet Emily Dickinson. The illustrations for the book are perfect to keep the child's interest and I certainly enjoyed it. They were bright and colorful and it made learning history fun. Perfect for doing an author study on Emily Dickinson. ( )

Emily Dickinson's Letters to the World is a collection of Dickinson's poems. This book is to help others to not forget who Emily Dickinson was. These poems were beautiful and meaningful. Dickinson wanted her readers to learn about the world, and how we can make this world an amazing place. I would use this book in an English class during the poetry section because of how these poems were written and who they were written by. ( )

Emily Dickinson’s Letters to the World was written and illustrated by Jeanette Winter in 2002. This is a picture book for older readers. The story starts as though Emily’s sister is the author; for example, “My sister Emily was buried today.” It goes on to tell you how she found Emily’s poems and what she wore. Once she finds the poem, the author finishes the story with twenty-one poems written by Emily. This book is very colorful and not one inch is left without a color. It is also very busy, so you are more interested in the illustrations than in the words. The illustrations match the words beautifully. For example, “A spider sewed at night…” had an illustration of a spider making a web in a windowsill. The sky was dark and there were stars in the background. Emily Dickinson is a wonderful poet, and I am very thankful that this book was written for her, for many of her works went unpublished. I took one star off because I was disappointed that I did not know where the new poem started. After I read the sleeve of the book, it stated that there were twenty-one poems. I went back through and counted the pages, and realized each page was a different poem. ( )

Emily Dickinson was an unknown poet during her lifetime. After she died, her sister had discovered 1,775 different poems that she had written. In this book, Winter picked out twenty-one of Dickinson's poems and surrounded it with her illustrations. ( )
