This book would be a good graphic novel for primary level readers. This book is about a girl named Henrietta who is writing her own story with her stuffed animals. She learns about creative storytelling coming up with fun and interesting stories to write about. This book would be good in the classroom to talk about the creative writing process and graphic novels for young readers. ( )

What a great book about the power of imagination!! I love this little author illustrator Henrietta and how she was engaged by her characters! ( )

Argentinan comic author Ricardo Siri Liniers based Henrietta on his lovely daughters. Henrietta gets a box of colored pencils and says, "A box of colored pencils is as close as you can get to owning a piece of the rainbow" (p.7). In the book, she's in comic style paynes and painted in water color as she uses the colored pencils to write her story called The Monster with Three Heads and Two Hats. The layering of stories is fun and the intertextual references to Narnia add something more to think about. ( )
