The writing is tight, the characterizations are good, the action is fantastic, and the spy work seems authentic. Oh, and he gave Putin a tiny dick. I mean, what more can you ask for? Several characters -- including Simon Benford and Marty Gables -- are pitch perfect. I look forward to The Kremlin's Candidate, the third in the trilogy, due later this year, and the film version of Red Sparrow, reportedly featuring Jennifer Lawrence in the plum role of Dominika. This series is so amazingly written. The details and depth of knowledge in the spy craft is just top notch. You never doubt for a second that you are RIGHT THERE, making the drop, meeting the double agent... it’s impossible to put down. And of course, the romance between Nate and Dominica is this beautiful, tortured, dark Russian thing. Are they doomed? Maybe. But you can’t help but hope for these two.
