The Pumpkin Fair is a book that could be considered Poetry. This book is written by Eve Bunting and illustrated by Eileen Christelow. The character in this book is a little girl who is with her family. We do not really get to know her name. The plot of this book is the family is going to a fair. The theme of this book could be seen as somethings look different, but they still need attention. The setting of this story is at the Pumpkin Fair. In this book, the little girl and her family are going to the Pumpkin Fair. While at the fair, there are many games that can be played, and contest that can be entered. The little girl goes to pick out a pumpkin. She picks out a pumpkin that most people would not pick because of the bumps that are on it. She enters it into the contest. Will she win the contest? One of my favorite quotes is in the beginning when she says, "I'm going to the Pumpkin Fair. Pumpkins, Pumpkins everywhere!" Another favorite quote of mine is when she tells of their night at the pumpkin fair. She says, "We all hold hands and sing a song of pumpkins round and pumpkins long, of pumpkins fat and pumpkins lean and pumpkins somewhere in between." ( )

I really liked how this book rhymed. It is a great book for Halloween time, especially if there is a fair at their school or somewhere near. I'm glad her bumpy pumpkin won over the others. ( )

"The Pumpkin Fair" is a cute story about a little girl who spends the day at a fair that celebrates nothing but pumpkins. There is everything from pumpkin juggling to a pumpkin parade even pumpkin bowling. The whole time at the fair, the girl is carrying around her own special pumpkin that she grew herself. Her's isn't the biggest nor the smallest and has a lot of shiny dots on it, but she still thought her pumpkin was special even when someone made fun of it. At the end of the day when the Pumpkin Master was announcing awards she did not expect her name to be called but it was. She won for having "The best loved pumpkin at the fair, the best loved pumpkin anywhere!" The theme of this story is to take pride in what you've accomplished no matter who or what tries to bring you down. This would be a great story for young students not only for the moral tied with it but also for its whimsical rhymes such as "Toss a pumpkin through the net, oops! A pumpkin omelette." ( )

How many children love Halloween? They get to dress up and go door to door asking for candy! This book takes children to a pumpkin fair and shows them all sorts of cool things. Children get to see pumpkins with long stems and warts! There are contests going on and even a walking pumpkin named, Peter, who greets everyone. Help your child learn about what the season of Fall brings, Halloween and giving thanks. This text helps children understand that it is ok to celebrate a holiday with other children, since there is always a form of diversity lingering around. In this book's case; however, all of the pumpkins were mentioned in diverse ways because some were small, some were fat, some were tall, and some were bats. This story helps children look at another side to Halloween; the pumpkin's side! Children will enjoy all aspects of Halloween from picking out and decorating their pumpkins to dressing up for the night to hunt down candy. ( )
