This book reads like 3 novellas. First story is about Marshall, a DEA undercover agent in South America who was in deep with the cartels and was whisked out at the last minute when his life was in danger. Back in Washington he’s having a difficult time at a desk job and gets loaned to the secret service where he’s shot defending the President’s young daughter and is retired out from his injury. The second story is about Ariana, a 22 yr. old daughter of a wealthy man who is asked to be the Ambassador to Argentina. While there she is kidnapped for 20 million dollars ransom but is programmed by the cult leader and has fallen in love with him. She is rescued by a joint task force in a very exciting rescue but suffering from Stockholm syndrome has a difficult time. In the 3rd story while working with a deprogrammer in Paris Ariana and Marshall’s path cross and he rescues her from some South American terrorists and their story begins and they must go into hiding. This was my first Danielle Steel book, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was glad there wasn't a lot of language or lots of bedroom scenes. I liked the main characters, Marshall and Ariana who come together under unusual circumstances in Paris. She is an ambassador's daughter, previously kidnapped in Argentina. He is a previous undercover DEA agent, now injured and staying in Paris until he figures out what to do next. When he sees Ariana about to get kidnapped again, he whisks her away in his car and takes her to a safe house in London. They begin a new life together where they then fall in love and return to Paris. ( )

Good story. Pretty typical Danielle Steele but a good book. ( )
