Not the best book of this series by far. This is #2. I've read them all now except for #3 (all out of order but it didn't matter). It's easy to remember everyone most of the time after reading a few pages/chapters.

This one seemed like a soap opera for some reason. Still good but not the best.

The characters and the setting are the same but the plot is different obviously.

Will I read #3? Maybe; but I won't be going out of my way to find a used copy unless it pops up somewhere without buying it. I did read a preview of it at the back of the book though. ( )

I didn't enjoy this book as much as book #1 "Winter Street". It was still a good story, it just didn't grab me the way the first one did. Looking forward to reading book #3 "Winter Storms". ( )

This story continues to be entertaining. Nothing earthshattering, but I am enjoying it. And want to continue reading the series. Again, it reminds me of the show Parenthood or that other one on the Hallmark station (it's in my review of the first one). Just family drama, that you're kind of sucked into. I probably won't remember much of what happens in a month, but at the same time, I'm intrigued to read/listen to the rest of the series to see what happens to the characters. ( )

In this second book of Elin Hilderbrand’s Winter series, a year has passed in the lives of the Quinn family and the inn is once again thriving, thanks to a generous cash infusion by Kelley’s ex-wife, renowned newscaster Margaret Quinn. While Kelly is still reeling from his second wife, Mitzi’s, betrayal and departure to live with George, the inn’s annual Santa Claus, cracks in that relationship develop, as Mitzi flounders trying to cope with that fact that her and Kelley’s son, Bart, is still missing in action in Afghanistan. The lives of Kelley’s older three children with Margaret are also in upheaval: the youngest, Ava, is torn between two men who profess their love for her and between whom she cannot choose. The middle child, Kevin, and his girlfriend, Isabel, give birth to a daughter, Genevieve, who is about to baptized. And the eldest, Patrick, is serving a sentence in prison for insider trading, while his wife Jennifer tries to hold it all together with their three sons, who are not making things easy with their reaction to their incarceration, so Jennifer turns to illegal prescription pills, which she becomes addicted to. That’s an awful lot of turmoil to pack into this slim book. While some issues hanging from the first installment are resolved, others remain and new ones crop up. Again, somewhat predictable and exaggerated, the book nevertheless held my attention and kept me wrapped up in the joys and sorrows of this dysfunctional family inhabiting this enchanting island.
