When Merik Hearne finally lays claim to the woman that betrayed him, she inspires much more than his need for revenge-but is her love worth dying for again? Condemned to play host to a demon, scarred Romani leader Merik Hearne has amassed a fortune with only one goal in mind-to possess Hannah Worthington, the traitorous beauty that has eluded him for over a decade. With an exchange of coin, everything he has been striving for is within reach but nothing is as he imagined. The tender, sharp-tongued woman he encounters tests the bounds of his convictions and he is torn between the promise of reckoning and longing for a love that once destroyed him. Exchanged for a purse of gold and informed she is to be a slave, Hannah vows she has not survived a lifetime of loss only to whither under the likes of Merik Hearne. And she will do everything she can to make sure he knows it. Despite his overbearing manner, his fierce scars, and her own determination to escape him, she begins to see that something beautiful might lie beneath...something that belongs only to her. She must discover the angle from which the great lord plays before his dark desires consume them both. As they struggle to find truth amid pasts marred by sorrow and secrecy, they are unaware that a vengeful apostle orchestrates the rise of a forgotten god-and the end of their chance at a life together.… (altro)

I received an advanced copy of this novel from Bookkus Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This book was something different for me, not my usual genre, but it grabbed my attention and I couldn’t put it down. I found this novel to be quite dark with gypsies, the occult, and monsters from the underworld. A young girl thinks she is going to be married but instead her abusive father sells her to a gypsy. The author has a clever way of weaving Dante into the story. I recommend reading this well-written page-turner and find out what happens. ( )

(received from Bookus Publishing) I have read quite a few vampire and supernatural books and I found this one quite enjoyable. Without giving too much away, I found the creation of the back story of the book's vampires to be creative, although the actual plot is what kept me reading. My main wish was that it didn't end with such a quickness, but other than that, I was happy to have an opportunity to read this. ( )

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I actually enjoyed the book and the characters. It reminded me of the classic Beauty and the Beast story, a very nice and interesting version. Not a big fan of your everyday blood and vamps story but this was pretty fresh and enjoyable if you can ignore Hannah's sarcasm which is her way of coping and her protection after years of abuse. This was definitely worth the read and I found a new writer to enjoy. ( )

When I requested to review “A New Day at Midnight” I thought it was Historical Fiction/ Romance. A genre I quite enjoy! It wasn’t until I started reading that I realised that it is Paranormal Romance, with vampires!! I don’t read vampires! That being said I was committed, so I read the book and surprisingly enjoyed the story.

Hannah was a protagonist anyone would warm to. She was courageous, feisty and quick witted. She had a big heart and was always determined to speak her mind. Hannah’s life had been hard but no one was going to break her spirit. The story had slight connections to Beauty and the Beast with Merik a beast of a man, covered in scars, but buried deep laid a heart of gold.

The plot is excellent and the romance is well written with the addition of a few villains to keep you on your toes. The story held plenty of action and twists to keep the pages turning.

An enjoyable story, even though at times it creeped me out, it was truly captivating and even had this, non vampire, reader eagerly turning pages to see how it ends.

I did find the ending to be a bit flat and the final battle scene and fire could have been a lot more spectacular.

Lovers of paranormal romance will really enjoy “A New Day at Midnight”.

With thanks to Bookkus Publishing for my e-copy to read and review. ( )

I enjoyed this book, it was easy to read. I enjoyed the mystery about who and why, and I enjoyed the skilful way this was slowly unravelled. I did find it tricky that no time , eg modern day, 1950's etc was indicated which was confusing with old style dialogue with modern day terms. Also how old Hannah was was not explained until nearer the end of the book (unless I missed it). I enjoyed the feistiness of the main character, Hannah, and her quick comebacks. I enjoyed the language used through out the book. Well done and thank you Michelle Hiscox.
