"With a perfect blend of humor, drama and heat, LUCK ON THE LINE is a welcome and much needed addition to the new adult genre." â??RT BOOK REVIEWS

Despite her name, Lucky Pierce has always felt a little cursed. Refusing to settle for less or settle down, she changes jobs as often as she changes boyfriends. When her celebrity chef mother challenges her to finish something, Lucky agrees to help her launch Boston's next hot restaurant, The Star. Even if it means working with the infuriating, egotistical, and undeniably sexy head chef.

James loves being known as Boston's hottest bad boy in the kitchen, but if he wants to build a reputation as a serious chef, he has to make this restaurant work and keep his scandalous past out of the headlines. Getting involved with his boss's spoiled, sharp-tongued daughter is definitely not on the menu.

As the launch of The Star looms and the tension and chemistry heat up in the kitchen, they're going to need more than a little luck to keep everything from boiling over.… (altro)

I described this as "crisp" on Twitter, and that applies all the way through. We see everything through Lucky, whose ways of dealing with life drive everything she says and does...and doesn't say...and avoids. This is ideal when we have a first person story, but many writers fail at it. Zoraida Córdova succeeds. Not only that, but I loved every character, even the yucky ones.

The only thing that my logic brain threw flags down for were things magically getting done off-stage when Lucky's supposed to be in charge of it all. It's the sort of thing I won't take away stars for in this genre because it doesn't matter for this story.

Well done. Very well done. ( )

Wait. I thought I was about to read a fantasy novel. Romance? Well then. Not what I was expecting, but easily one of the best written romances I've come across - enough so that even though I'm really looking forward to more fantasy novels, I grabbed the next book in the series.

Córdova's writing in this one is finestkind, and their virtual assault on some of the romance tropes is priceless. ( )
