Although the front illustration and title gives some hints to the outcome, it doesn't reveal the journey that Lizzie took. This story is great for synthesizing because it gives students the chance to make predictions and gives plenty of opportunities for change along the way. Lizzie Murphy was a professional baseball player in the early 1900's. This biography allows students to reflect on how she stepped out of society's norm to become who and what she wanted to be.
