It describes the difficulties of how her land was changing. It tells about sicknesses, changes in the environment around her, and her cultures experiences through all this. Libby tries to come be with her friend Fawn, but struggles arise. This short chapter book was used for a 3rd grade guided reading lesson. The adventure continues for Libby and her family! She wants to attend a ceremony with her friend Fawn at a nearby Indian camp. Government officials are on their way to relocate the Indian tribe! Will Libby be safe? This story is full of anticipation and adventure...one that any young reader would enjoy. The story of two little girls, Libby Mitchell and "Fawn" Tawcumegoqua, who are firm friends and whose friendship is firmly supported by their two families. On the night that Libby sneaks away from home to attend a native ceremony, government soldiers ride into camp to round up the Potawatomis and force them from their land. Libby is mistaken for one of the tribe and deported as well. The fear and horror of her plight, and theirs, is well conveyed but in keeping with the age of the intended readers, the ending is optimistic, but not unrealistically so. An outstanding book. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
