Last Year's Mistake es el libro que buscaba me diera un poco de sentimientos, tiendo a recurrir a los libros juveniles que vienen con drama porque tienden hacerme llorar, de vez en cuando el cuerpo necesita liberar, y si eres una estatua como yo, un poco de ayuda de los libros no está de más.

Al principio pensé que no me gustaría este libro, la personalidad de Kelsey en el primer capítulo se me hizo tan irritante, soy práctica por naturaleza, y hacer ese escándalo/drama por alguien que no veías hace mucho, no va conmigo. Me escondo y ya. Sin embargo, al adentrarme en la historia se me hizo fácil encariñarme con ella, entender el porqué de ciertas acciones.

Una de las cosas más resaltantes de Last Year's Mistake es que puedes diferenciar el paso del tiempo, a pesar de no ser más de dos años de diferencia, sientes como la voz de Kelsey cambia, como su personalidad pasa por todo ese desarrollo, desde caer en una ligera depresión para luego decidir empezar de nuevo. Kelsey me recordó mucho a Emily (Since You've Been Gone) ya que las dos están en cierta forma bajo la sombra de una persona que sin querer gira su vida. La diferencia es que en Last Year's Mistake vemos el otro lado, qué pasa cuando no salen tan bien las cosas, y te sientes perdido cuando te dejan de lado.

La amistad de Kelsey y David al inicio es muy bonita, y mientras todas las cosas pasan, mal entendidos, mudanzas, Kelsey madura y toma, a mí parecer, una buena decisión la noche en que todo el desastre comienza. Me gustó porque se respeta a sí misma, sabe lo que vale y que no es ningún premio consuelo. Y luego de eso, sigue madurando, aceptando algunas cosas, fallando en otras, no es un personaje que pueda decir admiro o quiero, pero tiene un gran desarrollo.

A diferencia de David que es y será solo un hipócrita egoísta.

Last Year's Mistake quizá no sea mi libro favorito pero me gustó bastante, fue bastante entretenido leerlo.

I really enjoyed this book. Loads of romance, enjoyable and very realistic characters, lots of swoon worthy moments and all the feels you want in a book. In particular I loved how the author alternated between past and present to weave together the mystery of what the heck happened between Kelsey and David. You will be rooting for them to fix it from page one! ( )

Kelsey and David meet the summer before starting high school.
They are each visiting relatives when they learn David is transferring to Kelsey’s school.

In the current timeline, they are both seniors. Kelsey has been at a new school for more than a year. They’ve lost touch after some not yet revealed drama.
And now David is transferring to her school once again.

We know that he used to mean the world to Kelsey until something happened that caused her to stop talking to him altogether.

I’m not sure the reason ultimately made much sense.
Something bad did happen but other things happened afterwards that had more to do with their break.

I thought the story was cute and light but Kelsey was a bit overly dramatic sometimes. ( )

I didn't think she deserved either of them and hated that she got David at the end. He deserved better. But that's what I kind of liked. That the story didn't end in a "smart" way. It ended in a real way. I still think they'll make each other miserable in the long run, though. ( )
