This is the probably the sweetest story of learning to love the new young sibling while also acknowledging the unpleasant feelings that happen when a child feels displaced. My 6 year old loved this book, I think it validated both his current unhappy feelings as well as the hope that someday his baby sister will be gun to play with. The illustrations are delightful. ( ) This book is about the struggle that children face when they gain a younger sibling. Throughout the course of the book Elmore learns to love his younger brother Albert. This book is very relatable for children because a lot of kids go through the same struggle when a new baby joins the family. This book could inspire children who are going through the same struggles as Elmore, to find things in common with their little sibling and foster a relationship. I think this book is best for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. I really enjoyed this book, and so did the 2nd graders that I read it to. The book tells the story of a little boy as he becomes a big brother. At first he doesn't like that his little brother is getting all of the attention and using his toys, but when his little brother comforts him as he has a bad dream, he realizes that having a little brother isn't so bad after all. The students that I read this book too found this very relatable, especially those with younger siblings. I love what Lauren Child does with this. It takes a real-life thing that many children go through and breaks it down in a way that shows kids that they're not alone in what they feel in situations like this. I think she does a fantastic job with the words popping on the pages, the adjectives and adverbs in each sentence, the way that the illustrations seem to tell some of the story that she doesn't include in the words. I love love LOVE her style. I also especially love the genre she always seems to be working with (from what I've noticed so far). She typically writes about realistic situations in a fictional way- like they're real-life things, that real-life kids go through, but they put a child-like spin on it. It's truly the reason I ended up choosing her for my read aloud in October. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Elmore Green likes being an only child, so when his parents bring a new small person, his baby brother, into the house he is not pleased and does his best to keep the new small person out of his life. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
