I love the way the book points out Shakeeta's shyness and it deals with teasing and being helpful. This book is especially helpful for classes that may have a student transfer in. (

This book is about a girl that is new in school, and she has hard time to make friends. One day a girl approached to her and they become friends.

About a new girl named Shakeeta that has a pet Iguana. Mia one of her classmates is curious of what an iguana is and wants to help Shakeeta feel at home in her new school and become Shakeeta's friend. Mia and Shakeeta bond over both being left out of the soccer game. Mia and Shakeeta become friends quickly.
