Garrison Brown has returned to Vancouver, Washington, after the loss of his dearly loved grandmother, Lilly, who raised him after the loss of his parents. Lilly's lawyer explains to Garrison that before he inherits the remainder of the estate as the estate's sole heir, there are specific instructions to be fulfilled for her 6 cats. How will Garrison respect his grandmother's wishes when he's allergic to cats?

All the author's Christmas novellas are heartwarming and magical. I loved the descriptions of the cats, highlighting their unique personalities reflected throughout the storyline. The grandmother's "St. Francis (of Assisi) ministry" touches Garrison's life in unexpected ways and demonstrates a meaningful quote of St. Francis, "For it is in giving that we receive."

I read the author's Dedication before reading the story, but I had to read it again after I finished reading the novella. I can imagine you doing the same when you read the story. The story and the dedication leave pawprints on your heart. ( )

I enjoyed this book about a guy who has to place six cats when his grandmother dies. I'll have to admit I was drawn in by the cover because I used to cat-sit a couple of Maine Coons. Being that it was a limited third-person point-of-view, I think she could have done it in first person. I wanted a little more in the end. Was it even okay for Garrison to keep Harry? Did he end up leaving his new job and start the halfway house? Did he marry Cara? ( )

Another Carlson disappointment. Shallower than most of her stuff, still, a different angle - guys gma dies, leaves 6 cats for him to get rid of with multiple stipulations - most of whch he pays no attention to. But still, better than many. ( )

When Garrison's grandmother (who raised him after his parents died), dies, he is tasked with finding homes for Gran's 6 cats – but Gran left specific instructions on exactly what kinds of homes her cats should go to. While looking for homes for the cats, Garrison meets a new woman in the neighbourhood, Cara.

It was a short cute novella. I liked the story and loved all the different cats' personalities, but could have done without the occasional religious reference thrown in. ( )

Well this book was NOTHING like I expected.

I did not expect to fall madly in love with a quick, cute, little Christmas story but fall madly in love with The Christmas Cat - I did!

WOW!

Melody Carlson has a talent! No wonder she has so many successful books on the market today!

When you start reading this story, visions of Brewster’s Millions or The Bachelor (the movie from a few years ago… NOT the crazy TV show) immediately fill your mind – but this heartwarming and heart-healing story bears absolutely no resemblance to those wild and crazy adventures…

Though that’s not to say the book holds no adventure.

Who could possibly place a horde of cats with happy homes before Christmas – without a little adventure.

But there is no race other than the one our main character builds up for himself.

Garrison has felt lost for so long and just when he thinks he has finally begun to find a place to fit, doubt sets in and he flees faster that a turkey at Thanksgiving.

If you’re asking yourself how a man who is allergic to cats can find peace, home and eventually his way in life – because of cats, then you better just read the book because I’m NOT going to spoil it for you!

And thankfully, Melody has quite a few of these charming stories, so when you’re done with this one, you can go track down her others too!

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. ( )
