Honestly the best in this story universe since "The Magpie Lord". An absolutely wonderful central pairing, a fun and thrilling story, great dialogue, great twists, and a wonderful spin-off overall. This is a darker story, so it took me longer to read than an average romance, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I was invested in the characters, you see. It was hard to be in their hurting hearts. I subtract for a plot device that is entirely justified, but grates on me; your mileage may vary. The end of this story is earned, many times over, and I loved it. There is a lot here to take away if you wish, beyond what love can cost, and can earn. I really like Charles's writing, so I hardly ever rate it below 4 stars, but I disliked Ben for a full half of the book at least. I found him irritating and unfair and unlikable. The good news is that he did improve. Finally. I also didn't enjoy being on such opposing sides with the Magpie characters I already knew and liked. But, things eventually worked out, and there were some nice moments. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
