Quick enjoyable read. I liked it but forgot it almost as soon as I read it. I would recommend it as a beach read but it was sort of unremarkable for me. ( )

So here I thought this was just about Cameron and Vanessa falling in love....nope seems Beth and James Macauley (mom and dad to the brothers) are having marital issues too.

Seems that communication, or lack of, is not a problem just for the younger generations. Neither is stubbornness or frustration.

I get that Vanessa had an odd and somewhat cold childhood. Two professors whom are more interested in academia than their daughter....tends to leave a person with trust and intimacy issues. Now Cameron just has issues since dad has always picked on him for being a "nancy" and not working in a manly career like his brothers. See, everyone has their issues and if we just stopped hiding and faced it think how much sooner we could find our HEA and have a GREAT relationship with our parents. Okay maybe not for Vanessa but there is still hope for everyone else.

I will admit there times I wanted to shake Vanessa and tell her to get her head out of her ass and follow her own advice. And Cameron.....OMG....for being a financial genius and self-made man...I can so see why his dad might have called him a "nancy"...geez you got a pair in those boxer briefs? Guess that just shows a sign of good writing when you can forget you are reading about fictional characters and not some real person.

Story jumped a little too often for me from Cam-Vanessa to Beth-James but eh...it is what it is. Then you add the other two couples, the hottie intern, Mr. Small Dick and Liam....well it can feel a little crowded at times. Plus we get a glimpse of things to come....Big Brother Mike and Del, the lady mechanic with the tatts and piercings....this could be interesting.

Ruining Mr. Perfect by Marie Harte is the third installment in the boisterous McCauley Brothers series. In this outing, it is youngest brother Cameron's turn to find love and no one is more perfect for him than Vanessa Campbell. Although their story is a little quieter than the previous novels, there is plenty of passion between this intellectual couple and conflict arises from very unexpected sources.

Cameron is the only McCauley brother who is not a blue-collar worker. He is an über successful investment bank and he enjoys the finer things in life. He has a nice car, a fancy apartment and he is very health conscious. All of which makes him the ideal match for his brother's neighbor, Vanessa.

Vanessa is an uptight workaholic who appears rather cold and standoffish. She is a little on the controlling side and she has very exacting standards. She is sarcastic and blunt but her honesty is refreshing. Vanessa is as career driven and goal oriented as Cameron and watching them match wits is pretty exciting and entertaining.

Vanessa and Cameron are a good fit and they bring out the best in one another. Vanessa has never been in a long term relationship and although she is happy with Cameron, she is always on guard, waiting for something to go wrong. She is a little emotionally distant, but that does not mean she feel things deeply.

Cameron is very sweet, always on his best behavior and he is very intent on making Vanessa happy. He is almost too nice at times and he tries so hard to be what he thinks Vanessa wants that it sometimes seems like we do not really see the "real" Cameron.

The romance between Vanessa and Cameron is absolutely delightful. They have so much in common, they really "get" one another and for Cameron, this is a welcome change since he does not fit in with his brothers or his dad. Cameron's easy acceptance of Vanessa's eccentricities is also a big relief for her and she finds it reassuring that she is not as abnormal as she sometimes feels.

Marie Harte's Ruining Mr. Perfect is a fast paced and engaging story with likable characters, a realistic storyline and a romance that is very heartwarming. A charming addition to the McCauley Brothers series that old and new fans are sure to enjoy. ( )

MY REVIEW:
This series has only gotten better with time. Granted, the book I’m looking forward to the most is the next one, but this one was a treat, too. The writing and story is engaging, fresh, and hot.

Here are two individuals that color between the lines and learn, when they’re together, that breaking out and going wild can be fun, too. The control these two have separately is astounding, but once they get together, the tolerance and restraint goes right out the window.

I loved watching their barriers crumble, and also getting updates on the rest of the family. This is a book you won’t want to put down, and one that will have you screaming for the next installment of perfect.

Review can be found on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Romantic Romp, and LibraryThing. ( )

“I love you. Present tense. Just like you love me. You’re just too scared to admit it.” – Cameron McCauley

Somebody get me my prize or something, because I feel the urge to shout out how RIGHT I WAS FOR THE YOUNGEST MCCAULEY BROTHER!

Cameron McCauley and Vanessa Campbell are the resident geniuses of the friendly group formed by the McCauley brothers and their neighbors. Both attractive, obsessed with healthy lifestyles, and successful in the business department with great, intelligent minds, it’s only natural for them to finally hook up after their friends and relatives have started dating each other. They think it will be easy with how compatible they are – but is it really fine to be with someone as right and perfect as you?

Come now, don’t tell me you actually thought Cam was sissy or didn’t like getting his hands dirty because of what his brothers said. I, for one, learnt my lesson with Brody. Not that I thought Cam wouldn’t be hunky and hot as all hell in a sunny summer day – on the contrary, show me a cool, collected guy in a tailored suit, and I can tell you, without a doubt, that he might just be the most fun of the batch just yet. The same goes with the youngest brother here. He was calm and a gentleman, yes. He had manners, knew how to dress and what to say. But boy, that man could talk a woman’s panties into doing cartwheels under her skirt – and the thing is, he knows it. He’s not arrogant, he just knows the extent of his charm and that he’s more than good in bed.
(seriously, Cam, I’m charging you for my ruined panties, sheesh!)

Vanessa, as you may already know, was my favorite of the girl group – though I’m suspecting I might actually fall in love with Del in the next book if she keeps the tough persona up. Everyone kept saying how cold and robotic she was – yes, Maddie, I saw what you did, and no, your cousin is NOT like you, brat! – but all I saw was a mature woman who made sure to keep her emotional outbursts in check. Was that so wrong? And she was funny and full of sarcastic lines, I don’t get how that makes her cruel or boring.

Whatever… Point is, Vanessa was pretty awesome for a health freak who obsessed over cleaning. Plus, she had amazing chemistry with Cameron – I wish I could have a “years forward” button to see how their kids will be. She also knew how to push guys away without making a scene (Maddie, you really need to start taking notes). The jealous parts were a bit off, but hey, she was hormonal and she’s still a hot-blooded woman, so all’s forgiven IMHO.

The only problem was that we had to endure too much of the drama between Cam’s parents. I felt like he was sitting in the back seat in his own story, and I don’t like poor Cameron getting cheated on his book – it’s enough that everyone is on his case all the time because he’s different from his folks, he doesn’t need to keep trying to solve their problems when he has his own love life to worry about, you know?

Even so, the book was pure awesomeness! Now I’m off to read about Mike – ABOUT FREAKING TIME! MIKE, I’M COMING, DARLING!!!!!

“I’d rather have you in my life than be right, Cameron.” – Vanessa Campbell
