( )Questa recensione è stata scritta per gli Omaggi dei Membri di LibraryThing . Although this book is the second in the series...it is a stand alone book. I've never read the first book and didn't feel any pieces of the story were missing which usually happens in a series when books are read out of order. This book kept me interested from start to finish....I read it in one day. Beautifully written, the plot and the character development is great. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys well-written, suspenseful thrillers. I look forward to reading other books by this author.Won in a LibraryThing Early Reviewers giveaway. Questa recensione è stata scritta per gli Omaggi dei Membri di LibraryThing . Six women head to a remote mountain cabin for a long weekend of skiing and fun. They are met by the cabin’s caretaker, whose job it is to provide transportation to and from the hut and furnish whatever supplies or assistance that are needed. Once they are in the cabin, though, the caretaker’s troubled identical twin unexpectedly takes over.At this point, I expected the book to become a horror-psycho slasher book, and I was very happy to see that it did not take the obvious path. Instead, we are taken into the points of view of three of the women and both men as the suspense slowly builds. Even better, as the readers, we’re taken to that cabin in the snow-smothered woods, where everything is described in vivid prose and mind-boggling clarity. Wrap up in a warm blanket as you read this chilling story of strength and survival. This book is definitely not your typical psychological suspense pulp! I read it in a day, which left me little time for anything else. I just couldn’t pull myself away from it! Beautifully written, the plot is tight, and the character development is perfect. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys well-written, suspenseful and thought-provoking thrillers. I will definitely look forward to reading another book by this author. I agreed to write a fair and unbiased review of this book in exchange for winning it through a LibraryThing Early Reviewers giveaway. I have never met the author. The glowing review I’ve given it is solely due to the merits of the book. Questa recensione è stata scritta per gli Omaggi dei Membri di LibraryThing . This novel is about a group of friends that go into the mountains for a ski retreat, their guide, and his criminal twin brother who appears to get revenge on his brother. While I normally don't like books told from multiple points of view, it really works for this one. You get to see the story from three of the six women from the group, as well as Curt, the guide, and Conrad, the twin. It was great to see the story covered from every angle, and it even made me feel a little sympathetic towards Conrad, especially towards the end. It was nice to see he had a conscious and felt remorse about some of the things he'd done. It was also interesting that Curt and Conrad had the same terrible upbringing, yet they chose two completely different paths in life. Conrad chose the dark path, Curt chose a path of goodness. This is the second book in the series, but it could be read as a stand-alone. While I have not read the first book, I didn't have any trouble following along with the characters and the story line. There were a couple of times I wished I had more background about Jessica and Sam's relationship and the accident that caused her prosopagnosia (face blindness), which is probably covered in the first book, but it wasn't enough to detract from the story. This was the first book I've read by this author, and it won't be the last. **A free copy was provided by the author via LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.** nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
