I love this book because it teaches the children to never give up and always to again when they fail.

This book is about Mouse who makes cookies but falls asleep and burns them. He then makes more, enough to make a pile as tall as his kitchen. He then shares some with his friend. I liked this book for two reasons. First, the illustrations add humor to the book. For example, Mouse wears an apron that reads, "I'M THE BOSS." Without directly stating that Mouse is sassy, you can determine this from the drawings. Second, I liked the organization of the text. One page reads, "He adds flour, salt,..." the text is indented a couple spaces, "...and a little music." This separation of text adds an element of suspense as the reader pauses in between. The big idea of this book is when you mess up, try again and always share with your friends. ( )

This book can be used to talk about what the main idea is.. which is not about baking cookies but working hard to bake cookies. ( )

This book is another one of Laura Numeroff's cute little tales to go along with If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. In this book however, the mouse already ate the cookies, he is now baking them. The mouse forgets to take them out of the oven, adds too much flower, and other things that can go wrong when baking cookies. This book is very predictable especially if you read the first book. ( )
