This book tells the story of a little girl who hears a dragon downstairs every night, but never sees it when she goes looking for it. She tries to find it, dressed as different kinds of hero’s, but doesn’t find the dragon until one night when she isn’t dressed up, only to discover it’s her cat making all the noise. ( ) This is a cute story about a young character named Sophie who thinks she hears a dragon downstairs whenever it's time for bed. Every night Sophie dresses as something new and runs downstairs in hopes to see the dragon, but he's never there. In the end, Sophie decides that instead of dressing up as something she is going to be herself; when she goes downstair she finally meets eye to eye with the dragon. I was surprised to find out that the dragon was Sophie's cat all along. This is a cute and enjoyable book that young children would enjoy hearing for story time. I chose this book, because of the author, Hilary McKay is an award winning author. This book is great for anyone that's ever been afraid to go downstairs at night. I like how it shows the extent to which a child's imagination can take them. It is very relatable for younger children. I liked how shadows were used to convey the fear that is very real to young children. My favorite illustration is the book cover and how the stairs seem to get larger and larger as she looks down on them. The ending will be exciting to children, finding out that the dragon was actually just their cat. The message is that our imaginations can sometimes get the best of us, scaring us and leading us to conclusions that are completely silly. Sophie is afraid that there is a dragon downstairs. Her parents try to convince her there is no dragon, but Sophie doesn't believe them because she hears it every night. She tries everything possible to scare the dragon away, but when she tries to encounter the dragon, he isn't there. In the end, she learns what the dragon really is--her cat. This is a great book for kids who fear that monsters come in the house at night. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
